Debuting in "Flash Comics" #36 (1942), created by writer Gardner Fox and illustrator Lou Ferstadt, carnival performer turned criminal 'Peter Merkel' used his triple-jointed abilities to battle 'The Flash'.
Following Merkel's death, his son 'Peter Merkel Jr.' continued his legacy as a member of the 'Secret Six'.
